Dr. Hugo St-Hilaire is board-certified in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He dedicates the majority of his practice to microsurgical reconstruction with an emphasis on restorative breast surgery.
Dr. St-Hilaire attended the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City where he trained in General Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans before spending a year obtaining advanced training in Craniofacial and Microsurgery at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland.
Upon returning to New Orleans, he joined the Louisiana State University Plastic Surgery staff and ultimately became an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery. He is currently the Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at LSU. Dr. St-Hilaire has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has lectured in regional, national, and international settings.
Dr. St-Hilaire has been instrumental in establishing multiple breast reconstruction practices in the region. He has also been involved in international microsurgical missions in Guatemala and Ecuador.
Dr. St-Hilaire enjoys spending his free time with his six children (CD, Adele, Ellie, Caroline, Ana Rose, and JP).
